RISE Emphasizes Impact of Grassroots Advocacy at Cultivate ‘23

(Columbus, Ohio, July 17, 2023) — RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment)® hosted an impactful Industry Issues Update during the AmericanHort Cultivate ‘23 event for the green industry, highlighting the importance of grassroots engagement with attendees nationwide.

Blaine Pinkerton, Nufarm Vice President of Turf and Ornamental Sales and RISE Governing Board Vice Chair, welcomed the audience to the breakfast, sharing “Now, more than ever, it is crucial that we tell our industry’s story. Having a discussion with colleagues, neighbors, or friends about the ways specialty pesticides protect them and their loved ones is a grassroots advocacy effort we can all be a part of.”

Megan Provost, President of RISE, echoed Pinkerton’s call to action, urging attendees to harness the power of grassroots advocacy to raise awareness about the vital role of pesticides and the robust regulatory framework that safeguards their responsible use.

“Your voice matters,” Provost emphasized. “It is imperative to actively engage with your local and state policymakers and decision-makers, forging connections and fostering a shared understanding. In doing so, we amplify the collective voice of our industry.”

The event saw a number of industry leaders, including speakers Alan Jones, President of Manor View Farms and Executive Board member for AmericanHort, and Tony Seegers, President of 1803 Consulting and Consultant for OhioPLANT. Together, they underscored the transformative impact of grassroots advocacy.

Provost concluded with, “RISE remains committed to fostering a platform for dialogue and collaboration, empowering its members to be effective advocates for the industry.”
