Washington, D.C., Feb. 11, 2014 — RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment) held a grassroots luncheon on Feb. 7, 2014, in Boston for green industry members at New England Grows, one of the Northeast’s largest horticulture trade shows.
Karen Reardon, RISE vice president of public affairs, and Hunter Carpenter, RISE grassroots and state government affairs manager, reached out to industry leaders about ways they can take action on local, state and federal issues, and how they can talk positively about their green industry businesses.
“Participating in New England Grows is an excellent way for us to collaborate with professionals in our industry and prompt discussion on the latest trends and business needs,” said Reardon. “Our conversations tend to come back to the basic fact that inputs are important technology-based tools in the toolbox of green industry professionals for keeping our families, homes and lawns healthy and safe.”
The luncheon provided attendees an opportunity to network and discuss issues affecting the fertilizer and pesticide industry. Reardon provided research-tested examples of consumer perceptions and informed members of resources available to help educate the public.
RISE also sponsored a booth at the trade show, distributing educational materials designed to build awareness among attendees of the importance of mitigating pest risks where they live.
RISE is the national association representing the manufacturers, formulators, distributors and other industry leaders involved with pesticide products used in turf, ornamental, pest control, aquatic and terrestrial vegetation and other non-food/fiber applications.
