RISE Grows Grassroots at New England Grows 2015

Boston, MA, Feb. 6, 2015 – RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment) traveled to Boston to meet with green industry professionals at New England Grows, one of the North East’s largest horticulture trade shows.  The show gave RISE the opportunity to talk about pesticide and fertilizer issues and the importance of grassroots engagement in advocacy efforts.

Allison Donaghy, RISE communications coordinator, and team members Morgan Prentiss and Sarah Laborde had a busy time at the RISE booth.

“Our booth at New England Grows highlighted the importance of pesticide products for public health and the environment,” said Donaghy.  “This year we focused on raising awareness about how social media efforts can influence conversations about our industry, and why it is so important to get engaged in advocacy on these social media channels.”

New England Grows attendees could engage with RISE in multiple ways throughout the show by tweeting at the PestFacts Twitter handle.  Attendees had the opportunity to play “Jenga” at the booth by writing lawn-care tips and reasons why they use pesticides on game pieces.  @PestFacts tweeted out photos of attendees and their jenga pieces, and RISE shared lawn-care tips and grassroots information with others visiting the booth.

RISE is the national association representing manufacturers, formulators, distributors and other industry leaders involved with pesticide products in turf, ornamental, pest control, aquatic and terrestrial vegetation and other non-food/fiber applications.
